[arts & crafts] terrariums

PROJECT | TERRARIUMS

SUPPLIES:
• glass jar(s) - we used a variety - recycled food jars - large fancy jars - mason jars
(wide mouth works best)
• pebbles (we found a bag of small river rock inside at home depot)
• potting soil
• plants - we used some pretty succulents
• small figurines (optional)

• put a layer of the pebbles in to cover the bottom of your jar
• then fill the jar about half way full with the soil
• dig a small hole and place the plant inside
• add a small figurine to live in there if you'd like

these are so quick and easy... but are so pretty and easy to take care of.
the kids (and adults) are proud that they can actually keep something alive for more then a week. :)

I am definitely going to do this! I've got quite the stock of potting soil hanging out waiting to be used right now.

anonymous... these plants don't need a lid and you can water them once a week. (i've gone a few weeks without watering some of mine and they've lived) ;)

Hi!
I love this idea! So cute and easy! I live in a small apartment and miss being able to plant out seeds and flowers so this is certainly something I can do!! Great posts and projects!
